چکیده

We report on the synthesis and CO gas-sensing properties of mesoporous tin(IV) oxides (SnO2). For the synthesis cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTABr) was used as a structure-directing agent; the resulting SnO2 powders were applied as films to commercially available sensor substrates by drop coating. Nitrogen physisorption shows specific surface areas up to 160 m·g and mean pore diameters of about 4 nm, as verified by TEM. The film conductance was measured in dependence on the CO concentration in humid synthetic air at a constant temperature of 300 °C. The sensors show a high sensitivity at low CO concentrations and turn out to be largely insensitive towards changes in the relative humidity. We compare the materials with commercially available SnO2-based sensors.

Improving Gas Sensing Properties of Tin Oxide Nanowires Palladium-Coated Using a Low Cost Technique

Thin films of SnO2 nanowires were successfully prepared by using chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process on quartz substrates. Afterwards, a thin  layer of palladium (Pd) as a catalyst was coated on top of nanowires. For the deposition of Pd, a simple and low cost technique of spray pyrolysis was employed, which caused an intensive enhancement on the sensing response of fabricated sensors...

Preparation of Mesoporous and/or Macroporous SnO2-Based Powders and Their Gas-Sensing Properties as Thick Film Sensors

Mesoporous and/or macroporous SnO(2)-based powders have been prepared and their gas-sensing properties as thick film sensors towards H(2) and NO(2) have been investigated. The mesopores and macropores of various SnO(2)-based powders were controlled by self-assembly of sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate and polymethyl-methacrylate (PMMA) microspheres (ca. 800 nm in diameter), respectively. T...

Morphology Control of Tin Oxide Nanostructures and Sensing Performances for Acetylene Detection

Morphology Control plays an important role in gas sensing properties of metal oxide semiconductor based gas sensors. In this study, various morphologies of SnO2 nanostructures including nanobulks, nanospheres, nanorods, and nanowires were successfully synthesized via a simple hydrothermal method assisted with different surfactants. X-ray powder diffraction and scanning electron microscopy were ...
